5 Pride-Month Book Recs

June is Pride month. As a cishet blogger, I don’t have much in the way of life experience to share about the contemporary LGBTQ culture, just the sincere belief that everyone deserves to see their experience reflected in in public spaces. Stories about and for diverse cultures are beautiful. They promote empathy, understanding, and ultimately make the world a richer and (sad that this must be said) safer place for all. So, this will be a short post, in which I get out of the way and let the books speak for themselves.

5 Speculative Fiction Books With LGBTQ Themes:

Review: This is How You Lose the Time War – This quiet, lyrical romance features a love for heart and soul. It is a love that crosses time, space, and different physical manifestations.

Book Review: Legends and Lattes – One of my favorite books of 2023 features a slow-burning romance sure to warm your heart.

Book Review: Jade City – This action/drama contains a fantastic example of queer characters not mired in stories totally about their sexuality and/or culture’s response to it. Anden is a well-rounded, major part of the ensemble, struggling with his place in a changing world along with the rest of his family. On top of that, is a fierce warrior.

Book Review: Viscera – This quirky Tim-Burton-esque adventure left me thinking about worlds and lifestyles I had never considered.

Book Review: The Fifth Season – Alabaster is an intriguing queer anti-hero. Even more than in Jade City, his identity is just a fact in the story, as the author treats him – sit down for this one – like any other well-developed character.

Happy reading, folks.
