Joy and Sorrow

Hi folks,

Long time no read, huh? My best intentions ran up against life this month. A lot has happened. Let me catch you up, starting with the good news.

With great joy, my wife and I welcomed out son into the world last month! He’s not much of a reader yet, but he makes up for it by being so dang handsome (I may be biased). His favorite book is Sea Mammals because it’s crinkly and fun to touch – but his nursery is full of fresh tomes with interesting pictures.

Baby Tax! Silas says ‘Hello, world’

This little guy joined us nearly two weeks early, so my plan to pre-schedule Top 5 lists before my life got crazy did not work out. Between learning to be a parent and the sleepless nights, alas, I’ve read one book in the past 7 weeks, and written nothing more than notes and brainstorms… and that’s exactly as it should be.

On the downside, we suffered the loss of two very close family members within three weeks of one another. One of the funerals required flying across the country. The waves of sadness come and go, but life has a way of moving forward. I’m sure you can imagine, keeping this little blog 100% active was not a priority.

So, what’s next for the blog? I’m glad you asked:

  • Next Tuesday, look for a review on the next installment of a beloved sci-fi series.
  • I’ll keep posting book reviews as I am able, giving myself grace to miss a week if I don’t sleep for 3 days.
  • Look for continued Top 5’s to give myself some wiggle room.

…. that’s pretty much it. I plan to play it by ear and post updates whenever I am able, accepting that this may be more infrequent for a few weeks or months.

Happy reading, and happy writing, folks.
