It’s still January, right? So, technically, we can talk about our new resolutions for another… (checks notes)… 4 days as of this writing.
After a dip in reading volume last year, I want to step up my game in 2022. I’ve set a goal to read 40 books. For the site, that will mean that no more than 1 post a month will be a reflection or essay. Thank the Lord for audio books.
I want to finish the various series I’ve started reading. The Green Bone Saga, the Broken Earth trilogy, The Tao Cycle; these are and others are living in my mind, unresolved. It’s time to resolve them. I also have my eye on some specific modern classics I want to finally tackle, including Mistborn and The Name of the Wind.

On the writing front, I want to try something different. I’ve had a particular series percolating in my mind for a year or more, and it’s just about ready to boil over if I don’t write something soon. This has the potential to be a very long-term project, so I want to take my time setting the stage for it. I know it is best to set goals I can control. To that end, my writing goal in 2022 is to write six short stories I am proud of, all set in the same universe.
I can feel your curiosity, reader. Fine. You wore me down. I’ll give you a glimpse: it’s a cozy mystery, but not what you think.
